Wesley Clark Endorses Hillary

Retired U.S. Army General Wesley Clark, who sought the sought the Democratic presidential nomination in 2004, was considered a 2008 presidential wannabee, and continues to run his WESpac political action committee, has endorsed Hillary:

Clark, the former supreme allied commander of NATO, praised the New York senator as "a remarkable person" with the skills and experience to be president.

"She will be a great leader for the United States of America and a great commander in chief for the men and women in uniform," Clark told reporters in a conference call with the former first lady.
It's nice to see Hillary get an endorsement from someone who isn't a political adulterer, an impeached judge, or whose endorsement otherwise raises ethical concerns.

Vilsack Backs Hillary

Former Iowa Governor Tom Vilsack will endorse Hillary for president on Monday.

Most of the remaining Democratic presidential contenders sought Vilsack's support after he withdrew from the campaign. This is a major coup for the Clinton campaign and will obviously improve Hillary's chances of doing well in the Iowa caucuses. Vilsack's endorsement might even help Hillary with those "unfair" objections, raised by left wing activists, over Hillary's vote to authorize military action against Iraq. Vilsack was among the most antiwar Democratic presidential wannabees. He called for Congress to cut off funding for the war and asked Iowa lawmakers to pass a resolution opposing President Bush's decision to deploy more U.S. troops in Iraq.

Romney Forms Exploratory Committee

Now former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney filed paperwork yesterday to form a presidential exploratory committee:

"After talking to my family, I have decided to take this initial step of forming an exploratory committee in order to raise the resources and build the campaign organization required to pursue the highest office in our country," Governor Romney said. "I look forward to continuing to talk with the American people to determine the best way we can meet a new generation of challenges."
Romney "has not made a decision on when he will officially and formally declare his candidacy."

There are now 7 2008 presidential candidates that have formed exploratory committees:

Kansas Senator Sam Brownback
New York City Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani
Arizona Senator John McCain
Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney
Former Wisconsin Governor Tommy Thompson

Democrats:
Former Alaska Senator Mike Gravel
Ohio Congressman Dennis Kucinich
